Truth Bomb

I read a post earlier today by SouldierGirl that made me smile – please feel free to check it out here so you have a frame of reference.  The following line nicely summarised some thoughts that have been sitting with me for a while:

The battle that has given me the most wounds is the one I have fought with myself.

“You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.”
– Buddha

You may be wondering why it made me smile considering it isn’t particularly cheery nor is it a joke or cleverly crafted meme. Well, simply because it’s always nice [for me personally anyway] when you hear or read something that makes you think “not just me then?”

People will be people. They can and will adversely affect you if you let them so why add negative thoughts towards yourself to the mix as well? Negativity will not change nor help a situation – in fact it usually makes it worse (trust me I know). So why not try a different tact?

Like her, I have found that once you start to gain momentum, someone or something will inevitably come along and try to flood your fiesta! To that I say; IT’S TIME TO START SWIMMING (or learn how to if you can’t). Let people or your problems, and most importantly yourself, know that you are not drowning today.

Time to start dancing like no one’s watching – I wrote this more as a reminder for myself but if it helps others too then great!

Smile
Shh… “walk as if you are kissing the Earth with your feet.”

Swim Good

Stop kidnapping the memory
of yesterday’s failings
in the eye of today’s storm.
You are neither bandit nor pirate so
stop stealing then sinking
faith-ships consigned with promise.

Learn to let go and cavort with waves
