Black and White

I have a tendency to wear a lot of black and white. There was a point in time in my life where I wore black almost exclusively. Needless to say, my mother was not a fan of this phase.

When I began introducing colour I started with white, then red, then navy and sort of branched out from there. At present I seem to have a lot of pink, purple and burgundy in my wardrobe (aside from my stapleย black). I’m not sure how this happened but such colours suit my complexion so I’m rolling with it.

Why am I telling you this?… Who knows? I just felt like sharing I suppose. Plus, at one stage, the colour palette of my wardrobe appeared to be a metaphor for my life. A tenuous one maybe but a metaphor none the less. I used to see things / people / situations as being black and white and got highly irritated if they were not.

However, Iย now acknowledge shades of grey….and red, purple, pink, orange, blue, green etc….you get the picture – colour makes life more interesting. Anyway, I wore a black and white ensemble recently that I really liked (please excuse the grainy phone picture but it’s all I’ve got). I went to dinner for a special birthday celebration with some wonderful people that I feel privileged to know.

What are your thoughts on black and white vs. colour?

Occupied

Some days,
you cling to her
like regret
in retrospect,
like loneliness
in tame hostility
lest you forget
shamelessness
fills her marrow;
she will pour
into you
but you can
never be full.

      1. You’re welcome! I’m good thank you ๐Ÿ˜Š I was thinking of you yesterday, actually – because on Monday I took the plunge and attempted my first ever poetry slam/spoken word contest… and by some miracle I actually managed to win! I’m trying to get hold of decent footage to post on the blog soon ๐Ÿ˜Š But it was a huge learning curve for me; one year ago I’d have been wayyyy too terrified to ever attempt anything like this. It just goes to show that we should challenge ourselves constantly and do the very things that make us afraid because often those are the most profitable risks to take! โค๏ธ I owe so much to everyone on my blog who has ever encouraged me with my poetry; you have been a huge confidence boost and have helped me more than you’ll ever know in terms of allowing me to face my fears and go public with my work! ๐Ÿ˜Š So a big hug & thank you from me to you! โค๏ธโค๏ธ

        How have you been?
