Who will finish
your jigsaw heart
when he leaves,
taking pieces with him?
Who told you to play

Flashback to one of the most extraordinary yet terrifying experiences of my life. . This ‘leisurely’ and supposedly casual walk up a snow capped mountain and subsequent descent revealed / reminded me of 5 of my personality traits that I believe make me a good event planner: . 1. I’m detail oriented - whether it’s up a mountain, on a boat or by the beach, I’m going to look presentable and my surroundings usually will to 😉 . 2. I’m a good negotiator - when I was scared witless and didn’t want to walk / fall down the mountain anymore, I tried negotiating with my friend to see if there was another way down. That’s when she told me I could slide for a bit. . 3. I’m calm in the face of adversity - as I said, I was so scared my mind was in overdrive but outwardly I looked fine. . 4. I’m organised - just in case the worse should happen, I had my phone within easy reach and was effectively planning how I’d handle an emergency. . 5. I don’t give up - trust me when I say that there are many times when I’ve wanted to but someway, somehow, I always pull through and get things done. . What qualities make you good at what you do?
It’s National Self Care Week! (18th-24th November 2019) . As someone who is all too aware of what burn out, anxiety and depression feel like, in recent years, I have become more intentional about self care. . Admittedly, I’m still not great at it, but I’m trying. Eating well, working on things I love, exercise and travelling are all part of my self care and to some extent, self love (two different things by the way). . What does good self care look like to you?
It’s been a while since I posted on my grid - almost 2 months to be exact. . The perfectionist in me needed a break from colour coding and caption composing. . What makes me good at the things I do (writing and planning) can also be major hindrances in other spheres of my life and I often suffer from analysis paralysis. . With that said, I’ve been trying to remind myself that the grace I extend to others, needs to be extended to myself. . I won’t be colour coding my grid anymore - hats off to those who can be consistent with it! But given that I often dress according to how I feel and only plan evening wear far in advance, it’s not conducive to my lifestyle. . As a result, I have a backlog of images I haven’t posted for fear of ruining ‘the look’ 🤦🏾‍♀️ expect a myriad of colours and locations accompanied by life lessons from now on. . This trio of images were taken in Albania in our hotel room which was across the street from the beach. I would highly recommend a visit if you’ve never considered it before. . I bought the outfit I’m wearing while over there too. Random story: I had a dream about a 🔥 knitted co-ord set and the next morning, while on a walk looking for an ATM machine, I stumbled upon this! It was meant to be.
